There is plenty of parking on the drive
Please note the drive is shared with the neighbouring bungalow
Kindly keep to our side of the drive at all times
The key safe is located by the back gate on the wall, next to the window
Key safe code: 0126
Inside the key safe:
Front door key
Side door key
Please note:
Patio keys remain in the patio doors – please do not remove them
On departure, please return the front and side door keys to the key safe
Check-in: 2:00 pm
Check-out: 10:30 am
⚠️ Please leave promptly by 10:30 am, as the cleaner usually arrives at that time.
Shirecliffe Cottage is an older property with low doorways and ceilings.
Please take extra care:
Walking through doorways
Going up and down the stairs
Inside the cupboard under the stairs
Outside the front of the house if the window is open (this is particularly low)
The sewerage system is also old.
🚽 Please do not flush large amounts at once, as this may cause blockages.
The garden has uneven areas due to previous dog digging
There is also a raised decked area
Please take care if you are unsteady on uneven surfaces.
🐾 Dog owners:
Before departure, please check the garden and remove any dog mess.
All electrics are fully certified
Electric vehicle charging is NOT permitted at the property
(This is not covered by our insurance)
🔌 There are nearby EV charging points, which can easily be found using Google.
The log burner is the main source of heating.
If it is cold:
Please light the log burner as soon as you arrive
The cottage should warm up within a couple of hours
Logs & kindling:
Logs are provided by the fire and outside the side door
Kindling is also supplied
⚠️ Important:
The log burner, including the fan on top, becomes very hot
Do not place hot ash in the wheelie bins
Ash may be disposed of once fully cooled
There are three storage heaters:
Bedrooms
Sunroom
These may be set to low or off on arrival
To ensure warm bedrooms, please turn them on or up when you arrive
If you have used the storage heaters, please turn them down before leaving.
🚿 Thermostat Notice
There is a thermostat in the upstairs bathroom, please do not adjust this, as it does not control the heating.
The Wi-Fi password can be found on the chalkboard in the kitchen
We provide:
Bed linen
4 small bath towels
3 hand towels (bathrooms & kitchen)
1 tea towel
🧺 Main Bedroom Cupboard:
Contains linen and towels. Please do not use these as they are for the next guests and if used the next guests will not have any.
Spare duvets are available here if you feel cold at night
Please ensure the following before departure:
All shower switches are turned off
Heating is turned down
Keys returned to the key safe
Garden checked for dog mess (if applicable)
